 Dorothy Newill...

Dorothy's thanks...

Dorothy Newill, who has lived in the village for 55 years and was School Secretary for 16 years, has moved into a residential care. She has written the following to villagers:

As some of you will be aware, I have taken the decision to leave my home in Pattingham and move into residential care in Derbyshire, near to my daughter.

With Victor, my late husband and children David and Liz, I moved into the village in 1956, so I have seen many changes and made many wonderful, true friends. During these 55 years, I have enjoyed being involved in the community, through the Women's Institute, Mothers' Union, Playing Fields committee, church choir and, for 16 years, secretary at the school. Throughout my life the Church has been my mainstay and as a family we have all worshipped at St Chad's; different members have been Christened, confirmed and married in our wonderful Church. I pray that the Lord is guiding me and giving me strength as I embark on this new phase in my life.

I thank you all for your support, kindness and prayers over these many years but especially in recent weeks. Please know that this has been a great source of comfort to me. You will continue to be in my thoughts even though I am no longer part of the community.

February 2011

Dorothy Newill passed away on Monday 23rd May 2011.

Her funeral and cremation will be held on Thursday 9th June in Derbyshire, but there will be a Memorial Thanksgiving Service to celebrate her life to take place in St Chad's Church, Pattingham on Saturday 25th June 2011 at 11.00am.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Liz and David (Daughter and Son) and their families.
