Thank you
to all those who helped with this year's race...
Once
again, thanks to all those who helped with the event. Around
150 people assist in marshalling the race and village traffic,
manning the Help Desk and taking 'on-the-day' registrations.
Thanks also go the Pattingham Bell Ringers and the band of ladies
who prepare and serve the hundreds of pieces of harvest cake
with a hot cup of tea. Thanks also to the farmers for their cooperation
on the actual course.
Publicity...
Thanks also go to all the publications and radio stations that
took up our Press Releases and published details of this year's
run. We would particularly like to mention Ad News, Wolverhampton
Chronicle, Staffordshire Journal, The Villager, Express &
Star and Pattingham Parish magazine.
WCR
fm Radio Station
WCR fm 101.8
radio station whose team of Jan Brookfield (Producer), Jason
and 'Fish' (Programme presenters) were especially helpful in
promoting the Bells Run by broadcasting interviews with Mike
Coope in the studio and 'live' on the day in Pattingham and also
at marshalling station 35. (Web: www.wcrfm.com)
As a 'Thank You', three pieces of 'Bells Run' cake were delivered
to the studio for Jan, Jason and Fish.

Raynet (communications), the Red Cross and the Community Paramedics
were again on duty and we thank them for their attendance which
ensures the welfare of all runners taking part in the run.
As previous years, donations will be made to various local charities
including the Air Ambulance plus the Village School, the Village
Playing Fields Association, Raynet and the Air Cadets, who provide
our car parking attendants. Remaining proceeds from the Bells
Run are given to St. Chad's Church, Pattingham.

Next year's
Bells Run, the 20th, takes place on Sunday 18th October 2009
The 20th Bells of Pattingham Run will take place on Sunday 18th
October 2009, starting at 11.00 am from the Village Hall Playingfields.
The first run
back in 1990, was organised to raise money to replace the old
wooden bell frame in the belfry of St. Chad's church in Pattingham.
Because of its popularity, the run has continued over the years
and now is a respected event in the running world with typically
700-800 entries.
All proceeds
from the race are now used for local charities, such as the County
Air Ambulance, Air Training Corps, Playing Fields Committee,
St Chad's School and also to help St. Chad's Church funds. All
runners finishing receive a 'Bells Run' brass and the first runner
from the Parish of Pattingham with Patshull will be presented
with a cup to be held for one year.
The
design for the Bells Run brass is changed each year and they
have become collector's pieces. The picture shows a typical design
for the race.
The run starts and finishes in Pattingham in South Staffordshire
over a 7 mile off-road, multi-terrain course, under UKA rules.
Costs to enter by pre-booking, or entering on the day, will be
posted on this website in the future.
ENTRY FORMS for the
2009 Bells Run will be available for download in the future...
